Today I will make a different post, but not innovative. Many remember my post about "the importance of wool " when making an amigurumi. That post, even today, is the most read and searched around the blog, something I am very happy, because from the February 4 published it has rained a lot.
. Today I wanted to speak also of wool ... this wonderful world. In my journey to continue to shape what goes through my mind (which fortunately or unfortunately is much and varied) I found several problems and one of the most laps and tumble has made me find wool is a certain thickness and / or color.
As you have seen, many of my Bichin are composed of black and white. Find those colors in a good material to make a amigurumi has no mystery, meaning good wool material 100% cotton or blend, so that is ruffling and effect "pellets" or dirty.
The wool of these characteristics in black and white You can find it without any problem in any store specializing in wool a little, for example I like to buy it in stores Cobian, who always seem to have, and the girl's section is more nice than pesetas. They also have other colors, but depends on the time of year and stock. Normally do not usually have black 100% cotton, but have a mixture of acrylic with very well. The wool, for example, which used to Charlot.
Now tell me, what other colors? well, the rest of colors depends on several things:
- The time of year. In winter, the stores have more selection of wool in the summer. So take advantage!
- color. basic colors (red, blue, purple, green ...) are fairly easy to find, however, to find a specific tone or a more unusual color, such as meat color, is another matter.
- thickness. As I put in my previous post that I reference above, the thickness most suitable for wool amigurumi is between 3.5 mm thick. and 5 mm. You usually find 4 mm wool., at most about 4.5 (my needle of 4 mm. could attest if he could talk ... even if it could talk I probably denounced by labor exploitation ... well, let this paranoia) ... As I was saying, with that thick wool we will not find much selection and variety of colors as we could go through the pearl, which at the same stores you have a thousand Cobián shades and varieties.
What's the time of year we can not avoid, in fact I try to do in the winter collection of different types of wool, especially if they are strangers or bright colors, but the issue of color ... is another story.
My main problem has always been to find a flesh color that looks radioactive. The first normal flesh-colored wool I found in Lanas Skylark, I remember when I asked a flesh-colored wool of thickness 4 mm. and cotton, looked at me a little funny face and I was offered other colors were very nice. At last they had a wool reminded of those features, but import was Italian, in particular, and the price a little high, but the tone was perfect. So I bought it. I remember the ball cost 7 euros 50 g. To give you an idea, that the wool used in My Little Red Riding Hood and I still have, but I'm saving for something special veeeeery.
Then in Stores Cobián had a wool Bámbola believe that Creative had a nice flesh color ... but one day ended and I have not seen him: _ (This yarn is a little fatter than the one I bought in Alondra, but considerably cheaper, I think it has some mixing, but the result is great. That wool to give you an idea which is used for the dancer and Jack Sparrow.
Finally landed a day at the Black Cat , and after much tinkering I found that would come a nice flesh-colored wool, and makeup. It is pure wool, not ruffling any and spreads a lot. This wool is the one used for my Gitanilla and that while they will use wool available.
For other colors, touched me more than once to replace a color another or take a tone that was not exactly what I wanted because it's really complicated, so I recommend you not obsesionéis with a certain tone in a given material for a given thickness.
The address I have provided are all of Madrid, the particular facility, which is in the area in which more I move, but if someone recommends a shop, woolen brand , web or whatever, I promise to check and make a comment on this blog.
Similarly, if someone wants to ask a question or you are in doubt or I want to correct or criticize something not hesitate to comment on the blog or send me an email. I promise to answer.
